Description:
To provide leadership, supervision, and subject-matter mentorship to junior legal staff and to provide comprehensive legal representation to low-income immigrants.Supervise immigration staff attorneys and/or senior staff attorneys, BIA-accredited representatives, paralegals, and/or legal interns. Provide direct legal representation to low-income immigrants in a variety of matters before EOIR, USCIS, and the Maryland courts.J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited law school required. Member in good standing with the DC, Maryland, or Virginia bar, or eligible to waive into one of these jurisdictions, strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise immigration staff attorneys and/or senior staff attorneys, BIA-accredited representatives, paralegals, and/or legal interns
• Provide direct legal representation to low-income immigrants in a variety of matters before EOIR, USCIS, and the Maryland courts
• Represent and advocate for Project END clients by liaising with law enforcement; filing civil, consumer, bar, and UPL complaints; requesting and reviewing clients' immigration files; and applying for forms of immigration relief
Qualifications:
• J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited law school required
• Member in good standing with the DC, Maryland, or Virginia bar, or eligible to waive into one of these jurisdictions, strongly preferred
• Fluency in Spanish or another language relevant to Ayuda's client community
• At least three years' experience practicing immigration law and/or consumer law
