Description:
The Senior Writer will report to the Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of NACS Media and serve as a member of the NACS Media team, which produces the award-winning *NACS Magazine*, a daily newsletter, web content, and other editorial material.Maintain excellent connections within the c-store industry, with a focus on convenience retailers. Manage and independently execute the entire process of creating longform articles, including conception, research, and writing.Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in journalism, editorial content creation, or related media roles requiring advanced writing, researching and reporting skills.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain excellent connections within the c-store industry, with a focus on convenience retailers.
• Manage and independently execute the entire process of creating longform articles, including conception, research, and writing.
• Write longform magazine articles for *NACS Magazine* showcasing excellent research and analysis skills and the ability to build a sophisticated understanding of a variety of elements of the convenience store industry.
• Write digital features for convenience.org, as well as quick-turnaround news stories.
• Assist with all other aspects of NACS Media, including serving as a backup across a range of editorial duties, potentially including substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading for print and digital, as well as research for the *NACS Daily* newsletter.
• Cover events, including the NACS Show and the NACS State of the Industry Summit.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in journalism, editorial content creation, or related media roles requiring advanced writing, researching and reporting skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience creating a variety of content (longform, shortform, social media posts, video, podcast, etc.).
• Top-notch reporting, analysis, and writing skills, as well as top-notch research skills.
• Awareness of emerging trends and technologies, including AI; a strong commitment to continuous learning.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced media environment and across multiple departments.
