Description:
Director, State Policy – SoutheastLead advocacy efforts before state and local policymakers in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.Experience in state policy advocacy, including direct work with state legislatures in one or more Southeastern states.
Responsibilities:
• Lead advocacy efforts before state and local policymakers in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.
• Lead on-the-ground industry advocacy in assigned state capitols during legislative sessions, including in-person meetings with lawmakers, testifying at hearings, and coordinating member engagement.
• Engage with DCC members to identify and prioritize issues and engagements.
• Research, identify, and track current and emerging policy issues across multiple Southeastern states.
• Support the Vice President of State Policy in engaging members to determine industry positions, priorities, and risks.
• Support implementation of the annual policy strategy.
Qualifications:
• Experience in state policy advocacy, including direct work with state legislatures in one or more Southeastern states.
• Experience managing third-party lobbying consultants.
• Ability to work closely and in a bipartisan manner with state legislators, senior staff, and executive-branch policymakers.
• Ability to draft legislative comments, provide testimony, and represent DCC with state-level policymakers.
• Strong strategic, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience with politics, advocacy, and the legislative process, and the ability to quickly learn numerous policy issues.
