Description:
Hunton Andrews Kurth is seeking a highly experienced Director of Government Affairs to manage Virginia legislative activities and lobby on behalf of our Firm clients.Advise on legislative and regulatory issues, coordinate client interactions with elected officials, and lead the development and execution of legislative strategies.Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree desired. Minimum of 10 years of management experience required, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship‑based organization.
Responsibilities:
• Determine regulatory and legislative priorities impacting current and prospective clients.
• Research, analyze, and monitor Virginia state legislative activities and coordinate firm involvement.
• Lobby the Virginia General Assembly and Executive Branch on behalf of clients.
• Formulate and implement legislative and regulatory strategies based on detailed research.
• Attend House and Senate Committee meetings; identify and monitor legislation of client interest.
• Advise firm government relations specialists, lobbyists, and lawyers on legislative initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree desired.
• Minimum of 10 years of management experience required, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship‑based organization.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
• Travel may be required. Availability and willingness to work long hours as needed to meet critical deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork.
