Description:
Senior Republican member of the Senate Commerce Committee seeks a Legislative Assistant with strong writing, research, and oral communication skills to advise the Senator on telecommunications, media, science and technology, cybersecurity, law enforcement, and Judiciary-related matters. The position also oversees all appropriations requests within these policy portfolios. This is not an entry-level role. Midwest ties are a plus.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include staffing the Senator at meetings and committee hearings; drafting memoranda, talking points, and legislative materials; developing vote and policy recommendations; and leading the drafting of legislative text and amendments, including for major reauthorizations requiring extensive stakeholder management.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have at least five years of substantive experience in commerce and/or telecommunications policy.
