An active Democratic member of the Senate Judiciary Committee is seeking a Chief Counsel to oversee his robust body of work on the Judiciary Committee, aggressive oversight efforts, and all legal matters for the office and Senator. Additionally, candidates should be interested in delving into complex legal matters and questions from a Senator well-versed in the law. This is a full-time in-person position based in the Washington, D.C. office. This position is eligible for all Senate employee benefits.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this member of senior staff include, but are not limited to, working with the Senator and other senior staffers to set and implement strategic priorities, advising the Senator on relevant policy issues, coaching and mentoring a large team in developing new and existing policy and oversight priorities with an eye towards bipartisan success where possible, representing the Senator in meetings with high-level representatives, and working with stakeholders both in state and DC to advance policy priorities. Candidates should have deep congressional and/or executive branch experience, strong management experience, deep background in issues under the Senate Judiciary Committee’s jurisdiction, strong relationships in Congress and with stakeholders, experience conducting effective oversight, and a track record of coalition building and achieving bipartisan legislative success.
