Description:
Senator John Hickenlooper – a former geologist turned brewpub owner turned elected official – seeks a full-time Constituent Advocate - based in the Front Range Urban Corridor, (Denver, Thornton, Fort Collins, Loveland) - to provide exceptional constituent services to all Coloradans. The role serves as a frontline liaison between constituents and federal agencies, such as United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Social Security Administration (SSA), the Veterans Administration (VA) and a variety of other federal agencies.

Responsibilities:

• Responding timely to specific constituent inquiries that involve navigating federal agencies or processes on behalf of constituents.
• Creative problem solving for constituents, some of whom have deadline driven and/or multiple needs.
• Working within the Senate system for casework management (Intranet Quorum, IQ software).
• Managing an average caseload of 130+ cases that require attention from intake to completion.
• Managing outreach events, such as “office hours in the community” to respond to casework in the field or with a specific population, e.g. veterans.
• Representing the office in the community, conducting ICE oversight, and special projects as needed.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency required. Must be able to read, write, and converse fluently in Spanish to assist Spanish-speaking constituents.
Ideal candidates can work independently and are able to multi-task and prioritize cases on an ongoing basis. In addition, the job demands excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage with constituents in an empathetic, compassionate, patient and caring manner. and the ability to remain discreet. Finally, the position requires having a strong sense of boundaries in order to serve constituents in the most professional manner. This position is open to candidates based in Colorado, preferably in Denver, Thornton, Fort Collins or Loveland. The role is hybrid.
The role requires routine facilitation of in person office hours at public facilities to provide casework services. In addition, you will need to represent the office at community events, such as resource fairs and agency meetings.
