Investigator and/or Counsel

The Ranking Member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations is seeking one or more creative and tenacious investigators to lead fast-paced investigations on behalf of the subcommittee. Qualified candidates will have prior experience working on complex investigations and a background in journalism, law, public policy, law enforcement, or similar investigative work, as well as superb research, writing, and analytical skills. A law degree is not required but may be an asset. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and pay close attention to detail. Candidates must be willing to work on investigations related to a variety of subject matter and be adept at working in a fast-paced environment. All candidates must have a deep curiosity and interest in understanding complex topics, as well as a strong commitment to public service, government accountability, and to protecting the public from exploitation, fraud, and abuse. The position requires the ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously, identify witnesses for hearings or public forums, and synthesize large amounts of documents and/or data. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of handling voluminous document and/or data sets to translate complex information into clear and communicable findings, and will also be skilled at sourcing information using creative methods, whether through public records requests, individual sources, or other means.
