Description:
Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16), member of the House Appropriations Committee, is seeking a Legislative Assistant position to join her Washington, D.C. team to handle a portfolio focused on domestic policy issues such as healthcare, energy and environment, tribal issues, agriculture, animals, and other issues as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Core responsibilities include researching and advancing legislative and policy priorities; drafting vote recommendations, memos, and talking points; monitoring legislation and floor activity; preparing the Congresswoman for briefings and external meetings; and representing the office in meetings with constituents, advocates, and stakeholder groups. The Legislative Assistant will work closely with the Legislative Director and broader policy team to ensure alignment with the Congresswoman’s priorities and district needs.
Qualifications:
This is not an entry-level position; prior legislative and/or Capitol Hill experience is required. Texas ties and Spanish language proficiency are a plus. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply. Strong familiarity with the appropriations process is required.
