Description:
Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari seeks to hire an experienced Legislative Director in the Washington, D.C. office on a full-time basis.
Responsibilities:
Advise the Member across a broad range of legislative policy areas, Assist in the development of policy positions and legislative initiatives, Maintain up-to-date status reports on legislation affecting the district, legislation for which the Member is a principal sponsor, and legislation for which the Member is a cosponsor, Monitor and report floor action to the Member and Chief of Staff, Manage and supervise the legislative staff, Coordinate responses to legislative correspondence
Qualifications:
Experience researching public policy and preparing legislative recommendations for a Member of Congress required, Deep understanding of House floor and committee procedure, Strong written and verbal communication skills, Political judgment and the ability to navigate complex and fast-moving situations, Experience collaborating and building partnerships to advance legislative priorities, Comfort making swift decisions and advising a Member of Congress on significant issues, Ability to manage staff and drive strong team outcomes, Excellent time management and organizational skills
