Description:
Congressman Henry Cuellar's Washington, D.C. office is seeking a Press Secretary. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing and editing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Drafting and editing press releases, op-eds, talking points, newsletters, social media content, graphics, and other communications materials. Managing and overseeing communications staff in both Washington, D.C. and the district. Developing and maintaining relationships with reporters, editors, producers, and other members of the media. Overseeing and managing the office's franking operation and constituent communications in compliance with House rules and regulations. Collaborating with legislative and district staff to ensure consistent and effective communication of policy initiatives, constituent services, and district priorities. Managing and updating the Congressman's official website and digital communications platforms.
Qualifications:
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities. Prior communications experience on Capitol Hill, in government, or related fields preferred. Spanish proficiency highly desired, but not required.
