Description:
The Office of Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) seeks a self-starting, experienced, and creative Communications Director to join his Washington, D.C. office and lead a fast-paced communications team.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the Congressman's chief spokesperson and media liaison; Develop and implement strategic communications plans for the office, including working closely with the legislative team to develop media strategies to roll out legislation, send letters, and make other major announcements; Successfully and consistently pitch the Congressman to local and national TV, radio, and print media on issues consistent with his priorities; Prepare for, brief, and staff the Congressman for media interviews, press conferences, roundtables, and other engagements; Draft talking points, speeches, press releases, op-eds and other materials, as necessary, and in the Congressman's voice; Oversee management of the Congressman's website, newsletter, robust paid and franked tri-lingual constituent outreach efforts; And more.
Qualifications:
2-3+ years of communications experience Strong commitment to the Congressman's mission and values Excellent organization Exceptional attention to detail Great writing skills Discretion with sensitive information California ties (preferred) Spanish language proficiency (preferred) Vietnamese language proficiency (a plus!)
