Description:
Congressman Kweisi Mfume seeks an innovative communications manager who can design, produce, and turn around digital products that respond to the moment.
Responsibilities:
Develops and implements media, communications, public relations, and social media strategies; Directly engage with members of the press for media availability for Congressman Mfume; Brief and prepare Congressman Mfume for all press engagements; Remains abreast of current legislative and non-legislative issues; Proactively drafts content in the voice of the Congressman each day in addition to quickly responding to breaking news on Capitol Hill and in the District; Manages the Member’s official website; Creates videos, graphics, and other digital content that is compelling, engaging, on-brand, and error-free; Manages the creation and distribution of the Congressman’s newsletters and press releases, and produces franked communications; Maintains a good working relationship with the Congressman, staff, media and news outlets, and constituents; Works well under pressure and handles stress; Accepts performance-based criticism and direction; Works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights and weekends; and Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of professional communications experience are required. Professional experience creating and distributing digital media products is essential to this role. District ties and a thorough understanding of the Baltimore/Maryland media landscape are strongly favorable.
