Description:
The Democratic Staff of the Health Subcommittee of the Committee on Energy and Commerce is seeking an experienced Professional Staff Member or Health Counsel to work on issues related to the Medicare program.
Responsibilities:
Developing and drafting legislation regarding the Medicare program, including considering new policy proposals to improve access to care and lower costs, implementing technical assistance feedback, and managing policy development; Providing recommendations, insight, and guidance for the Committee’s position on Medicare policy, such as providing feedback to Caucus Members on policy proposals and analyzing bills, regulations, and guidance; Collaborating closely with Health Subcommittee staff on additional policy areas within the Committee’s jurisdiction, as well as with staff on the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee on issues related to the Medicare program and policy implementation; Drafting memos, letters, talking points, messaging materials, and other written materials for use by the Committee and Ranking Member; and Providing support to the Ranking Member and Democratic Caucus on Medicare policy.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, a proven ability to perform under pressure while juggling multiple tasks, and sound political judgment. Prior Hill or Administration experience is preferred.
