Description:
Lead and execute an aggressive communications strategy for a battleground district.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining relationships with national and local reporters; strategically managing press inquiries; proactively pitching stories; drafting and editing press releases; developing media strategies to roll out legislative and casework wins; organizing press conferences; spearheading communications components of district outreach and events; running an aggressive and responsive social media program; overseeing a non-traditional media and content creator program; writing op-eds, talking points, and speeches; managing and coaching the communications team; and working collaboratively with District Office and legislative staff to amplify the office’s work.
Qualifications:
Strong oral and written communication skills, sharp attention to detail, experience managing a team, and a track record of successfully pitching media and influencing positive media outcomes. Politically astute, calm under pressure, collaborative, and willing and able to work the long, irregular hours required by a communications job in the modern-day news cycle.
