Description:
The Committee on Energy and Commerce Democratic staff seeks a Policy Analyst to join
the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee and the Communications and
Technology Subcommittee.
Responsibilities:
• Manage clerical and administrative responsibilities for hearings and markups,
including but not limited to:
o distributing committee documents
o tracking member and staff attendance
o submitting documents for the record
o tracking recorded votes
o editing hearing transcripts
o collecting and formatting questions for the record
o communicating with the Republican staff and Democratic member offices
• Field inquiries and act as the liaison between on and off committee member
offices, outside stakeholders, and subcommittee staff.
• Track relevant new bills in the subcommittee’s jurisdiction.
• Take diligent notes for briefings, hearings, or meetings to distribute to staff.
• Assist subcommittee staff on a wide range of projects, including legislative
research.
Qualifications:
Excellent writing, verbal, and organization skills, a high
attention to detail, and a solid understanding of the legislative process are essential
attributes. Additionally, the ability to thrive under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and
manage multiple priorities are key. This is not an entry-level position.
